Day 7

The Warhawks last day in Orlando ended with impressive signals play from both men's and women's team. The women's team played Lake Cane and beat them without dropping a match. Top to bottom, the women Warhawks had good execution in both singles and doubles.  Emily Sodemann fought hard to win in a third set breaker (10-6) after losing a close first set. Overall, the women had an excellent week of tennis going 3-0 and remain undefeated this spring season with a overall record of 15-0.  

The mens team ended the week strong with a 7-2 win over Northwood, a previously unbeaten NAIA school. Going into the match, the warhawk men knew it was going to be a tough one. The opposing team, Northwood, has a solid singles line up filled with South American grinders. The men hawks came ready to play. We saw excellent singles play from top to bottom in the lineup. Freshman Matt Zurowski had his second consecutive day with wins in the line up.  Unfortunately the matches for the afternoon were canceled due to the rain.

Before packing up for the early flight in the morning, Frank, Byron, and some parents got together and watched the Badger game. While they were cheering on the Badgers, the rest of the team enjoyed some quality time relaxing by the pool and shopping! 

Day 6

Day six for the Warhawks started with matches for both the men’s and women’s team.  The women played Wellesley, who are currently ranked #27 but won’t be for long after a 6-3 victory from the Warhawks. The women wore all white in honor of Wimbledon white Wednesday. Three doubles Ashley Miller and Rachel Siemon had an impressive 8-2 win. They were on fire and could not have played better! Coach was very impressed. The MVP of today had to go to Bridgid McGuire, with the clinch for the match. She breezed through the first set like not big deal, but lost the second set. She stayed mentally strong and won the third set breaker 10-7. The men’s team played Hamilton and beat them 8-1. The highlight of that match was the 6-0 6-0 win from freshman Zane Navartil.  

After the matches, the team headed to Daytona beach. Most of the team laid low on the beach relaxing, tanning, and shopping at local stores. Some of the Warhawks, such as Kassie and Treis decided to be a little more adventurous. Kassie scoped the shoreline for seashells collecting them as she went along and spent most the afternoon riding the waves. Also, Treis was brave enough to dive into the frigid  waters head first (check out the video below). He too enjoyed body surfing. Cam, Ashley, and a few others played an intense game of kanJam, drawing a circle in the sand which was used to instead of the can ( Such a great idea!). The day at the beach was wonderful, but there was just one thing missing and that was Megan Kasten aka “Mego”. It was nice to sit back and think about the great memories that were made four years ago at Daytona beach. The current men's and women's team made life time memories of their own, just like the memories made four years ago with Mego Kasto.
