Men and Women each sweep their matches this weekend

The UWW Tennis program (both men and women) enjoyed a tremendous week this past week.  At the start of the week the temps were high so we spent a couple of days shoveling and getting the courts ready in anticipation of being able to move our matches outdoors to campus on Wangerin Courts for both men and women.  During the week we were able to practice plenty outside and even had a Thursday night team BBQ at the courts in honor of spring’s appearance (see our http://uwwtennis.blogspot.com/ for photos).   There will also be photos posted there soon from both the men’s and women’s matches from this weekend.

The women competed Saturday against Augustana and were able to get a lot of players in the lineup against a solid regionally ranked team and still come out with a victory.  It was great to see so many players battle the elements well and outlast each of their opponents.  For all the individual scores, go to http://uwwsports.com/news/2015/3/14/WTEN_0314155606.aspx

The men competed at home on Sunday against a pair of regionally ranked foes and came up with two impressive wins over Carthage (8-1) and Augustana (9-0).  We were able to get 9 players into the lineup for these matches.  I feel playing outside in the elements is a great way to get help the teams prepared for spring break in Orlando next week.  Raman was able to gut out two match tie break victories, and everyone was able to play solid tennis on a somewhat windy day.  Schnarr/Beck had a great day beating two opponents at #3 doubles.  To see all the individual scores from this match, please go to: http://uwwsports.com/news/2015/3/15/MTEN_0315154415.aspx

As I mentioned, the teams are heading down to Orlando, Florida on Friday where they will spend a week playing matches and having a little bit of fun. The men are scheduled for 6 matches and the women have 5, so it’ll be a grind for sure.  Many of our fans/supporters are coming along, and we’ll have some fun in the sun to share stories about when we get back.  Until then stay tuned.  As always you can follow us on twitter for in match progress reports as we go along.  Our twitter handle is @uwwtennis

Thank you, and GO WARHAWKS!!
