Alumni

What an amazing turnout we had for this year’s UWW Men’s and Women’s Alumni event!  This year we had our annual mixer event at Premier Tennis and Fitness in Janesville and we added a new portion to the event a dinner at 841 Brew House in Whitewater.  Both portions were a big success.  At the tennis event we had 32 Alumni playing, 30 players and 11 other supporters were in attendance.  At the dinner we had even more Alumni show up that were not able to make it to the tennis, so over all we had a record turnout.

At the tennis event we had players from all eras mixing in with their old team mates and the members of the current teams.  Since we had so many players we did all doubles rotations.  See the photos to see all of those that participated.
At the dinner (mostly just some Alumni and coaches), we spoke about the progress of the new tennis facility project.  We are making some exciting changes to our outdoor courts and adding a six court indoor tennis facility right next to our current outdoor courts.  It’s going to be an incredible addition for our teams and the camps.  It will also be a great service to students, faculty, and local community members.  We are looking for additional people to donate to support the project, and are actively involved in that step in the project.  So please contact me if you are interested in hearing about the gift level options and naming opportunities.

The highlight of the day was when Coach Ron Wangerin got a standing ovation when we introduced and thanked him at dinner for making Warhawk Tennis what it is today.  His 1981 team had just about everyone in attendance as Lee Woyahn, John Buckley (back from CA), Jim Holcomb (Atlanta), Bill Henneman (Mpls) Todd Adams, Tom Daniels (Detroit) all made it back this year.  Jimmy Woyahn, Ted Stuckslager and of course the Duke were also back.  Many of our recent grads and usual suspects from both the men’s and women’s side were able to make it a day to remember. Michelle Daciolas made it back for her first reunion to campus since graduating!  Thanks to all that came.

This weekend both men and women will be in action.  The men hit the road to Minnesota this weekend.  They play a Varsity Reserve match vs Gustavus on Friday night in St Peter at 6pm then they play the Varsity match vs Gustavus at 10:30am there.  The women will play two matches on Saturday at PTF in Janesville.  They play Luther College at 3:15pm and then Edgewood College at 7pm.

GO WARHAWKS!!
