Women dominate opening weekend.

Hello Warhawk Tennis fans!  It's great to be back in action as the 2014-15 is now underway.  The women opened this past weekend in dominating fashion and the men will start this upcoming weekend.

On Friday night the women hosted WIAC conference rival UW-Eau Clarie on the Ron Wangerin Courts. The Warhawks started off with a 3-0 lead after some impressive doubles.  Then Humphreys, Talyansky, and Beck added wins to extend the lead to 6-0.  Upthagrove won her match at #3 singles, while McGuire and Miller lost tough battles for a 7-2 overall team win

After losing 6 incredible seniors last spring including Alexandra Bayliss (most decorated Wahrawk Tennis player in school history), Jackie and Jess Vitale, Abby Day, Kelsey Fitzgerald, and Hillary Franzen we were not sure how the team would bounce back.  But Friday's lineup had a great mix of returning starters (Megan Humphreys and Amy Upthagrove), returning top bench players (Ashley Miller and Rachel Siemon), and new faces (Bridgid McGuire, Alicia Beck, and Alex Talyansky).  Note that D-1 transfer (from Drake), Amanda Dick was out this past weekend due to injury.

It was great seeing some familiar faces on the coaching side, as two former assistants returned to their old stomping grounds, UWW.  Daniel Bickett is now the head coach UWO and Erik Scanlan has taken a graduate assitantship at Carthage.  It certainly was fun to have us all back at UWW again.
