Quickstart Day at UWW

This previous Saturday the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Men's and Women's Tennis team hosted a free Quickstart Tennis Day at Four Lakes Athletic Club in Elkhorn, WI. The Quickstart Day was comprised of two parts. The first part was a training session conducted by the USTA's Rick Vetter for a group of 47 tennis teachers and parents interested in learning the proper way of teaching 10 and under tennis. Following that session and a fun pizza break the Warhawk players and coaches (Along with Mr. Vetter's help) worked with a group of 36 kids from the surrounding communities in a two hour play day to try and spread the love of tennis. Many of the children participating in the play day were new to tennis, and hopefully our play day inspired some athletes of the future to pick up tennis. Here are a few pictures and some video from the event:

A very special thanks to Rick Vetter for helping the teams conduct this Quickstart Day, Paul Lauterbach for letting us use the great facilities at Four Lakes Athletic Club, and the Men's and Women's Tennis Teams for volunteering hours out of their day to help support the growth of a game they love.

To top things off we even had a Denny Schackter sighting. Overall, it was a great day for tennis enthusiasts young and old.
